It is obtained through vegetable tanning to increase its lifespan but also to protect your skin from irritations and allergies often caused by the chemicals used in traditional leather tanning processes. Leather straps are treated to withstand everyday splashes like hand washing or rain. However, they should not be submerged, and it's best to avoid getting them wet. Soap, sea salt, or pool chlorine will damage the strap.
